"The principle concept was to create an opening title sequence for Netflix - Maniac, an 80s future inspired series, showing the birth of the universe and life on earth".

"Creating a mixture of full CGI space and galaxy shots, scientific cell mutations and a 400 year New York timelapse shot, we were keen on building a beautiful narrative for this opening sequence".

"The New York timelapse sequence involved studying and replicating historical aerial maps of manhattan, showing the gradual colonisation, building and development of the island.

Building many matte paintings to show the progression of development, before a CGI pull out shot to earth".

"The Maniac Title, created in After Effects was a full homage to 80s Title Card. I started by creating the venetian effect on the words, then creating a setup of textural noise, subtle bevelled edges, then adding an optical glow, pushing the chromatic abberation to split the RGB channels".

"Given the 80s future aesthetic, we finished the sequence in a 4:3 format, giving a subtle analogue filmic grade".
